The mobile challenge
The multinational Pioneer is a major player in the field of in-car and home entertainment. For the European Car division in particular, it is crucial to keep up with the latest trends and technologies. The division offers a wide variety of navigation products which can be installed in an extensive list of compatible cars. Communicating this to customers in an efficient and attractive way was becoming increasingly challenging. Vintage found the answer to this in Augmented Reality technology. Rather than starting to create an endless list of all combinations and relying on costly photography, we proposed the creation of an in-car app.
Smart drivers try before they buy
Augmented Reality technology is used to let drivers ‘try out’ products before they buy them, using three simple steps. All they need to do is download the app from the App Store and scan a marker from the ad, web page or Facebook page. This enables them to see navigation units ‘installed’ in the dashboard, using an iPhone. Now it’s easy for anyone to preview a Pioneer navigation unit in their car.
